The Italian artist Giovanni Smeraldi painted the frescoes and murals inside the Biltmore. He was also requested to paint inside the White House and Vatican Museums.

Giovanni Smeraldi also led hand-painting of the grand ceiling in Crystal Ballroom. Two chandeliers are actually 22-feet diameter each, which don’t look like that big due to the high-ceiling feature of the Crystal. Look down and look upon, the carpet pattern is mirroring the ceiling painting. Music video for Ed Sheeran’s hit song “Thinking Out Loud” was filmed in the Crystal, while he was dancing elegantly with a female dancer. The Crystal was designed perfectly as a dancing ballroom. Nowadays there are several ballroom dance competitions held here year around.

Did you recall the first serious case Ghostbuster team took was one at the hotel? Yes, that’s filmed at the Biltmore. The floating “ghost” was captured in our current lobby, which used to be called “Music Room” as a function space for dancing, supper and social networking. We still have the dance ticket archive back to the age.
