The founding banquet of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences was held in our opulent Crystal Ballroom in 1927. Thereafter, the hotel hosted eight Academy Awards banquets in the ‘30s and ‘40s. John F. Kennedy stayed at our hotel and spoke in our ballrooms during the 1960 Democratic National Convention.
