In the limestone caves of Lake Te Anau, there are hundreds of glowing worms hiding from the world. Long ago, these caves were talked about only in Maori legends until New Zealand explorer Lawson Burrows ‘found’ them in 1948. Small group tours of the glow-worm cavern include a cruise across the lake, an optional guided forest walk, and complimentary tea or coffee. This is a favourite family excursion for all ages over infancy (the worms like their serenity). Some walking through tight pathways is required.
