1) They bought us a Christmas Tree for our room. After decorating the tree for us they were dissatisfied with the lights on the tree... so the duty manager went out to buy more lights! The GM brought lights from home. The result was a magnificent tree and a festive room filled with flickering lights that my children loved playing int.2) For the second year running the F&B team were able to prepare a Christmas Lunch TO GO! They asked me what I wanted. (I said "just like last year...") they contacted the chef who was on duty last year [working at another Millennium Hotel] and got all the details and replicated it down to the brandy-butter. Then they boxed it and bagged it so I could deliver it to my family who were unable to visit the hotel due to illness.3) The Concierge Desk helped me coordinate seemingly impossible travel arrangements for my elderly parents (visiting from America) ... and then they helped to track down items that went missing after I put my parents into the hands of the wheelchair assistance handlers at the airport. The Concierge Desk were also able to pull-off not one but TWO last minute bookings outside the hotel! (I'll write about those next!)Not to mention booking last minute cars in the face of insurmountable traffic!4) My family and I were greeted by virtually every single person working in the hotel over the Christmas weekend. In some instances we were able to meet their family members who were visiting during the festivities. It was a wonderful and warm feeling of family and home... it didn't really feel like being in a hotel at all. We felt like we were home. We were sad to leave._ _ _If you read this and thought that I made this up - I didn't. If you read this and thought "...that never happens to me..." then you have to assess your role as the consumer. This is NOT about finding the cheapest rate. This is NOT about getting free 'this' or complimentary 'that'. This is about a relationship that I have cultivated for a long long time.If you want this same relationship (with this hotel or any other) you need to stop jumping around chasing a few pounds per night and make yourself known.Let me conclude by saying thank you to: (in no particular order)Beth, Meseret, Jean-Baptiste, Grace, Paulo, Emile, Andy, Zoltan, Vincent, (and Vincent from Le Chinoise!), Nina, Judita, Delia (nice to have you back again!), Venner!, Eduardo, Tamara, Aly, Berlin, Mario, the ENTIRE kitchen staff... Carlos!...I know there are more people I'm forgetting but it is late and my brain is fried! Thank you, thank you, thank you! One and all! And I look forward to seeing you all soon!
