Galleria Nazionale dArte Antica in Palazzo Barberini

A must visit museum in Rome

The Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Antica (GNAA), or National Gallery of Ancient Art, is located in the Palazzo Barberini, a palace commissioned to celebrate the Barberini family’s rise to papal power. The opulent baroque-style palace impresses right from the onset, before stepping foot inside to admire the masterpieces.

Many high-profile architects worked on it, including rivals Bernini and Borromini. Amid the stunning artwork, be sure not to miss works from Pietro da Cortona, Hans Holbein, Filippo Lippi and Caravaggio.
