Great Hotel In Convenient Location
Mike S - Malvern, United Kingdom, May/15/2017
I selected this hotel due to its obvious location near the railway station and the centre of Plymouth. The accommodation was very good and we stayed for 3 nights. My wife and I had one meal in Bentley's Restaurant which we thoroughly enjoyed! The same facilities are used for breakfast and the standard was excellent with a wide choice. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful and the manager reacted extremely well when we had a problem with the lateness of cleaning our room. Overall an enjoyable stay!

I stayed at the Copthorne for 2 nights to attend some family birthday celebrations. My cousin booked several rooms for those of us who were travelling to Plymouth. My room-417- was a connoisseur room so I had slippers & dressing gown provided & there was a superb Samsung TV & a fridge with complimentary water & soft drinks. I had a wonderful stay with no noise during the night. The WiFi was adequate for my needs. The breakfast was excellent but the stand out feature was the shower which was the BEST (most powerful) I have had at any non Spa hotel anywhere in the world. Other family members agreed about their showers too. Also, bath sheets were provided which is always a bonus for me. The hotel is close to the Railway Station- 8 minutes walking & about 20 minutes walking to the Hoe & Barbican. The staff were smashing & I would definitely stay at the Copthorne again. Thanks to all concerned.

I stayed at this hotel on business due to its locality. After a long drive from Cornwall and then a full day in work I did get rather frustrated as I couldn't find my way into the car park on arriving. After driving round three times I parked the car and went into reception to ask directions. The Manager very kindly offered to come with me in the car and directed me round to the car park. He was very friendly and even offered to take my bag up to reception. As a female travelling on my own I don't particularly like staying in hotels, however The Copthorne was very friendly, I didn't feel at all intimidated in any way and even felt comfortable eating a meal on my own in the bar although I deliberately chose to eat earlier rather than later. The room was well proportioned, had space for me to do some work, was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It was also a very quiet room and I had a good nights sleep. Breakfast had plenty of selection, however being a coeliac my choices were rather limited but I still managed to get sufficient to set me up for the day. All in all very pleased with this hotel and the staff. People are on other sites giving negative comments about the refurbishment but I personally would say that whilst I agree refurbishment is going on it doesn't have an impact on staying there, it's not noisy with workmen everywhere and at the end of the day the work being done will only enhance the hotel making it a better experience when staying there.
I stayed at this hotel 3 days ago as a lone female traveller for work. I agree the car park is difficult to get into and yes I did drive around 3 times to find it but if you ring the hotel beforehand they will give you directions. I went in to ask and the Manager was extremely helpful and even came in the car with me right to the car park. I don't particularly like to stay in hotels on my own but felt comfortable and at ease here. The staff were all helpful to me, the room was spotless, very comfy and despite being right in the city centre was extremely quiet. Yes there are refurbishments going on but maybe people should look at this as a plus in that all this work is to enhance the appearance of the hotel and not as a negative which so many seem to be doing. I was happy to stay here and will use this hotel as my base whenever I now need to come to Plymouth. Thank you to all the staff you do a very good job.
Have stayed here a number of times and the service is always first class, rooms are clean, staff helpful but in the background as you would wish, bar and food gives a good selection at prices that you would expect.
