Greymouth is a great base for exploring the natural beauty in the surrounding areas. Drive a couple of hours southwest to find yourself in Westland Tai Poutini National Park, where the Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers are located. Don't be alarmed by the grinding sounds that these beautiful glaciers make – they move up to four metres every day, which is unusually fast for glaciers.
