Abu Dhabi glitters off the Persian Coast and is the main jewel in the UAE's sparkling crown. Once you've strolled along the Corniche, taken in the yachts and distant skyscrapers and marvelled at the 8km stretch of manicured waterfront, have a little dance in a refreshing fountain, grab yourself a well-deserved ice cream and head on over to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.
This opulent architectural wonder, with its 80 marble domes and over 1000 pillars, draws thousands of tourists per week. You might have to pay a small fee to get inside once you've passed the beautifully kept gardens, but this shining example of Middle Eastern culture will leave a lasting impression. Ladies, do remember your headscarves.
