Declared as a historical site in 1999, Taichung park is the oldest park in the city. It was built during the Japanese rule and its Houxing Pavilion is considered a symbol of the city. Spread over 10 acres, the park started with what is known as the Ruixuan garden. The property was donated by the Lin family. Apart from pretty landscapes, there is an outdoor stadium, playground and tennis court.
