Established in May 1972, the Eno River State Park is an outdoor museum of sorts as it has a deep connection to the original Native American tribes of Eno, Shakori, and Occoneecheetri who once lived here. The park has five areas after the Eno River that flows through it and through parts of the Durham and orange counties. There are about 30 miles of shallow streams within the park that are used by locals and visitors for fishing, canoeing, kayaking and a host of other activities.
