This famous café opened in 1862, and originally served the Grand-Hôtel de la Paix, and visitors of Expo exhibitions. Being close to the Opéra, many famous clients ate here, such as Jules Massenet, Émile Zola, and Guy de Maupassant. During the Belle Époque the Prince of Wales and future King of the United Kingdom, Edward VII also paid a visit.
