Located opposite the Millennium Biltmore Los Angeles, this public park and amphitheatre is an oasis in the heart of Downtown LA. Built in 1866, it was originally known as Las Plaza Abaja, or Lower Plaza before its name was changed to Pershing Square in 1918 to honour American military general John J. Pershing.  The park, which frequently hosts outdoor concerts and events, features several water fountains and orange trees. In summer it is a venue for free concerts and films; in winter, it is transformed into a skating rink.
