We were last here at this hotel in 2014 and enjoyed our stay then. Decided to stay again for 2 nights on our return from Penang en route to Perth and to catch up with a friend who lives in KL. This hotel is right in the centre of KL and therefore it is close to all the shopping malls and general city sights including the Twin Towers. The journey from KL airport during lunch time traffic was not pleasant and is the downside of choosing to be in the city centre. However, the hotel has a pleasant foyer and we noticed that the check in desks are now a counter facility rather than round desks. However, we were a little disappointed that on our arrival, no attempt was made by the baggage porters or door porters to assist us with our luggage from the taxi to inside the hotel. In addition, the check in counters are above a flight of stairs so we had to haul our luggage with us up to the counters. There was some trouble using my husband's Visa card as a guarantee of prospective charges during our stay. It was rejected by 3 of the electronic machines on the counters and we were told that there was some problem with the machines. I tried my card and it was accepted. My husband obviously was not happy about this. Our room was on the 12th floor and had a wonderful view of the city landscape. It was a huge modern room with lovely furniture including a chair with a foot stool in bright yellow furnishing which was a great seat to sit in and relax, rather like a chaise longue. We were meeting our friend who, lives in KL for dinner that evening of checking in and reserved a table in the restaurant for 8pm that evening. Also ate lunch in the restaurant which was enjoyable from the a la Carte menu. Breakfast the next morning was good with all tastes catered for. Service is attentive and staff are polite and welcoming. On our last night we ate in the Japanese restaurant in the hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our meal cooked at our table by a service person. Because we were leaving at 5am in the morning on our day of leaving the hotel for the airport, we were not able to attend at the buffet breakfast but a breakfast bag was given to us on checkout which included sandwiches, fresh fruits and croissants. The Grand Millennium is a popular hotel due to its central location and we would definitely stay there again on our next visit to KL. It is clean, has good food and the staff are great!
