I have stayed a few times in the last few months after returning from overseas. I was very happy to see some positive changes from my last visit a while ago, when it was called the Rendevous Hotel. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, we were treated very well by kind and helpful staff. It is nice to be met with a smile after a long journey. It was also good to notice that security has increased, and floor access is restricted now by your own room card. The room itself was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The bed ensured a good nights sleep! Above all , the room itself was very quiet, and for me that is a great bonus as I am a light sleeper. Room service is very reasonable if you prefer to just relax in your room. There is also a very adequate Gym and Pool at your disposal on the 4th Floor, a bar and Japanese Restaurant on the first floor, and a breakfast cafe on the ground floor for your enjoyment. As mentioned earlier the staff are very friendly and helpful, and really do seem to enjoy working at this hotel. From check in to check out we were met with smiles and friendly faces. I cannot remember all the names, but one member of staff that really does deserve a special mention is Mr Abhishek Sood, who I believe is one of the Front Desk Managers. During our stay he was very attentive, kindly acknowledged a special birthday, and provided a hand written card and kind gifts. He truly is a great ambassador for the Grand Millennium Hotel being both friendly, professional and obviously enjoying his role within the hotel. He is the kind of person that you hope to encounter when staying at a hotel for work or pleasure. The hotel also has a great location, and it is a very short walk to the main shopping streets, namely Queen Street and High Street, where you will find an abundance of cafes, restaurants, banks, cinemas, etc. For those who are interested, Sky City Casino is just a small walk away. The waterfront is perhaps a 10-15 walk away. Based on our last few stays, we are definitely looking forward to our next stay at the Grand Millennium Hotel Auckland.
