December Lights You’ll Love

Nov 13,2018

‘Tis the season for festive lights. Allow the familiar weather and glimmering lights to set the scene for the most dazzling introduction into the holiday season. There’s just something about decorative lights that bring cities to life. Here’s a look at which cities around the world shine the brightest.

Christmas Tree, Rockefeller Center – New York City

The enormous (23 meters to be exact), sparkling tree at the Rockefeller Center is not exactly one that you could miss. Or would want to, for that matter. Since the tree lighting ceremony, the excitement in the air is almost tangible — Christmas is finally on its way.

With its thrilling live performances and enthusiastic crowds, the Christmas Tree is one for the books. The tree, with its extravagant lights, will stand tall and proud on 49th Street between 5th and 6th avenues, until the January 7, 2019.

For that extra festive feeling, there’s also an ice-skating rink just underneath the tree. So take the time to soak up every bit of that Christmas feeling by skating under the glimmering light of the tree above. And to top it all off, there’s hot cocoa to give you a taste of the holiday that’s to come.

Oxford Street Lights – London

For the fifty-ninth year, London’s biggest shopping street is lit up with 750,000 LED bulbs and large number festive decorations. It’s big, it’s bright and it’s your first (and only) stop for holiday gifts and spoils this season.

At the flick of a switch, the festive shopping season is open for business. Whether you have a long laundry list of gifts to get, or just a thoughtful thing or two, shopping feels like less of a chore, and more of an outing, as you stroll under the lights along Oxford Street. The glowing lights lead you from store to store, as Michael Bublé and Boney M songs awaken that holiday nostalgia you’ve been waiting for the entire year.

There are many different ways to get the festive twinkle in your eye this December. It could be the sight of the first Christmas tree of the season, a family trip to a light show you’ll never forget, or finding the perfect gift under a sky of sparkling lights. Wherever you travel to this season, make sure the last month of your year is a bright one.
