Christmas market in Princess Street Gardens, Edinburgh
At just over an hour’s drive from Glasgow to Edinburgh, Edinburgh’s Christmas fair in Princess Street Gardens is not one to miss. If you’re not so into the typical festivities, you’ll be pleased to know that this fair is Christmas with a twist. You’ll be able to catch live acts and performances, like Shona Reppe’s version of Cinderella, where the classic fairy tale is turned into a remarkable puppet show. A big hit at Edinburgh’s Fringe Festival, Baby Loves Disco will be a highlight for both you and the kids. It’s an unusual but winning combination of day-time clubbing on an illuminated dancefloor with babies, toddlers and young children.

Christmas Market in Strasbourg - Alsace, France
There are over 300 wooden chalets spread across the city centre during the holidays, with Strasbourg’s traditional market standing the test of time as the oldest in France, dating all the way back to 1570. The streets and cathedral square are transformed every year with classic festive decorations – think picture-postcard. You’ll be able to find little treasures, ornaments and toys to take home with you, as well as the usual selection of tasty food to keep you going through the whole fair.

Hong Kong, China
December 2nd, 2017 – December 31st, 2017
Hong Kong WinterFest is particularly special as there is already a stretch of glowing lights from the surrounding skyscrapers, mix that with a giant sparkling Christmas tree and traditional decorations, and you’ve got a thoroughly modern Christmas. Although Paris is the city most known for its ‘love lock’ bridge, the phenomena spread worldwide and China is no exception. At this Christmas fair, you’ll be able to purchase your own ‘love lock’ to hang under the glow of twinkling lights. Keep an eye out for Santa Claus, who will be making appearances throughout the festivities along with the Christmas choir.

Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland
Winter Wonderland sets up every year in London’s Hyde Park. The most extravagant of the list when it comes to flashy festive fun, the fair is full of vendors serving beer in huge stein glasses and sweet treats like hot churros and chocolate, all placed near a variety of rides. There’s an open-air ice rink with a bandstand for anyone who’s confident on their skates and a variety of live acts and shows, including (for those who remember the little bear puppets) The Sooty Christmas Show.
