Birthday in December? We’ve got you covered

Nov 08,2017

Birthdays can be difficult when they arrive right before holidays, sometimes your friends forget and sometimes you don’t even want to remember. Here are some ideas to make your birthday an absolute pleasure. Let’s take the stress out of party planning.

For parents without the kids: Lunch in the Cotswolds

For this celebration, you’ll start in London but you’ll travel to Burford in the Cotswolds. Feast your eyes on a gorgeous view of Burford’s famous high street, brimming with houses and shops made from Cotswold stone. There’ll be time for you to pop in and out of some shops before getting to Bibury for a walking tour. When it’s time for lunch, you’ll be taken for a delicious two-course lunch in the hotel restaurant. Afterwards, there’ll be a slow ramble from Bourton-on-the-Water to Stow-on-the-Wold. What an idyllic way to spend your birthday.

For parents with the kids: Lunch at Hackney City Farm

East London is the place to be when it’s your birthday and the kids are in tow. Hackney City Farm is free entry for all, which is a great start, then you can enjoy a slow lunch inside their café. Using seasonal ingredients, all the food is cooked on site. They have a particularly tasty Sunday roast dinner which will give any restaurant or pub a run for their money. Take home some birthday treats in the form of fresh eggs and honey that come directly from the farm.
For the couple: Champagne in The Shard
Standing at almost 310 meters, you won’t be disappointed with a birthday in The Shard. After an experience in a high-speed elevator, you’ll find the viewing decks between floors 68 and 72 (can you imagine? 72!). They have the best 360-degree views across the city. You and your partner will be able to sip away on some fancy bubbles as you cast your eyes across Tower Bridge, the Gherkin and many more standout London sights.

For the group of friends on a budget: Little Nan’s Broadway Theatre Saloon

Little Nan’s can be found south of the river in Deptford. It can be quite hard to find this little gem, but it’s worth it when you stumble upon the right door. Fully embracing the culture of kitsch, Little Nan’s is full of retro charm. From the stuffed toy tiger sat next to you on the velvet chair, to the fairy lights that cover the fringed umbrella hanging over your table. Cocktails are served in what can only be described as gaudy china teapots. You and your friends will love the upbeat music and sharing sips from delicate mugs.
For the group of friends who want to splurge: Spa Day

You managed to get your group of friends together and, lo and behold, they even have some spare cash they don’t have to save for the holidays. It’s time to get serious about celebrating and hit the spa at The Chelsea Harbour Hotel. For those who are gym bunnies, go to the fitness center and get in the day’s work out first. For everyone else, the treatment rooms await. Indulge in pure relaxation, with candles flickering and delicious scents in the air. When you’re good and ready, take yourself in the direction of the warm pool. The swan neck waterfalls and body jets will make you feel rejuvenated, which is really what you need on your birthday.
Really ramp up your luxurious day of relaxation and stop by The Millennium Hotel Mayfair or The Bailey’s Hotel for a delicious cream tea. You’ll be spoiled with finger sandwiches, scones and cream cakes – just don’t forget to share. You can even add a glass of champagne to make the occasion really special.
