Toast of the Town

May 19,2014

Shake it, stir it, serve it!

No, we're not talking about showing off your embarrassing dance moves on the dance floor, we're talking about cocktails. This month marks the first in a series of organised events celebrating towns and cities scattered across the UK. From Glasgow up in the north to Plymouth down in the south, we're trying to figure out what makes Britain taste great - in liquefied form.

'Toast of the Town' aims to assign a taste to some of the main towns and cities in the UK. After all, Britain is known for its rich diversity so why not encapsulate that with a nice drink?

Our first stop is Manchester, up in Lancashire. On Thursday 29th May, the Copthorne Hotel in Manchester will host a cocktail making workshop with professional mixologists (bartenders), who will help our special guests create their very own tasty concoctions.

To start with, each of our guests will learn how to make two classic cocktails before moving on to creating their very own Manchester cocktail (with the help of our mixologists, of course). Their blends will then be sipped, swished and then swallowed before a winner is announced. That lucky so and so will win a lovely two-night stay at a Millennium hotel of their choice.

It's sure to be a fun event, with tasting sessions and laughter aplenty. Canapés will be served throughout the evening and, more importantly, all of our guests will leave with a handy goody bag as well.

To stir up some excitement around each and every one of our Toast of the Town events, we've created an official Toast of the Town hashtag (#ToastoftheTown) allowing our guests to comment on the events as they happen.

Keep checking the What's On blog and our Facebook and Twitter pages to find out where and when the next Toast of the Town event will be held.
