Cardiff: A culture capital
It's tricky to say what our favourite thing about the Welsh capital is because it has such a diverse offering. One thing we know, however, is that the Copthorne Hotel Cardiff is one of our all-time favourite locations. Maybe it's the fact that the city is steeped in history, and home to some of the most impressive castles and heritage sites in the UK. Or maybe it's the beautiful Cardiff Bay, which lights up at night to create a wonderful atmosphere. We're definitely a fan of the copious amounts of quirky restaurants and bars to be found. And then of course there's its vibrant arts scene. The city is so alive with exhibitions that you may not even have to visit a gallery or museum to experience it. Pop up street art can usually be found just around the next corner; a permanent fixture of the city's cultural heritage.
If you're into shopping then we'd recommend looking into Cardiff hotels because there's simply too much to get through in one day! With a great mix of Victorian arcades and the uber modern, it's time to get your comfy shoes on. Of course if you're staying overnight, you'll need an evening of entertainment to look forward to. Cardiff boasts several fantastic theatres, including the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay. For all the classics, however, it's best to visit the New Theatre, a stately (and not so new) venue that was built in 1906. And for those who want to get a true taste of the history of Cardiff, there are plenty of guided tours on offer. This is a fantastic way to gain an insight into the Welsh language and the city's rich backstory.
Cardiff is, without a doubt, one of the UK's most fascinating cities with an endless list of sights to see, places to eat and things to do. So if you're planning a visit, be sure to utilise our handy guide. Oh, and don't forget to send us a postcard!
