Have a very Merry Christmas at Ascot Racecourse’s Christmas Meeting

Dec 20,2013

As the winter nights draw in and a frosty chill fills the air, we all know Christmas is coming - some are even counting down the days in anticipation. Ascot Racecourse is on track to celebrate this festive season with their 2013 Christmas Meeting. Join in with a day of quality jumps racing and some seasonal fun for all the family.

Situated in Berkshire's wooded countryside, connected to Windsor Great Park, this event will take place over two days: Friday 20th and Saturday 21st December 2013. The first day features two Grade 2 jumps races: The Noel Novices' Steeple Chase race, run over two miles and three furlongs and The Grade 2 MITIE Kennel Gate Novices' Hurdle, run over two miles. This is the event that precedes the family fun day, so race enthusiasts only on Friday, and those who fancy a flutter. The Friday race day presents young jumpers with an important gateway to prepare for the Cheltenham festival later in the season.

Saturday brings the best of both worlds, the featured two mile £150,000 Ladbroke Handicap Hurdle, a high profile event and the festive fairground. When all the action is happening on the racecourse and you can't bear to look, just relax, unwind and soak up the atmosphere.

Whilst the race might be for the adults, why not bring the kids along? With the chance to meet Father Christmas in his grotto and the opportunity to take home a prize for all those good boys and girls, this day is truly unmissable. A Christmas meeting would not be complete without a chance for the little ones to meet Santa's reindeer and have their photo taken. Step into the Winter Wonderland for some Christmas tales in the cosy confines of the bandstand and be swept away by the magic of Christmas time. Warm up with a hot chocolate and marshmallows for the kids, and perhaps a slosh of mulled wine for the grownups.

There's so much more to see and do to make this day feel very festive. Why not celebrate your work Christmas party at Ascot? A day at the races could end up in a big win - just in time for Christmas. Plus, with the many Windsor hotels in the nearby vicinity you needn't worry about travelling a long distance home after a sherry or two. It is Christmas, after all!

With Britain being the birthplace of the thoroughbred, there's no wonder why horse racing is the choice sport for many. The four-legged action is an experience unlike no other, so soak up the atmosphere with family, friends or colleagues and watch your horse come in for the win. Place your bets!
