It is easy to believe that the beautiful 53-foot Minnehaha Falls inspired Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, the famous New England poet, to write the Song of Hiawatha in 1853. Situated on the grounds of Minnehaha Regional Park, the falls flow into the Minnehaha creek which in turn joins the Mississippi river. Visitors can enjoy a beautiful picnic while listening to the roar of the falls, followed by a walk or bike ride on the many paved trails running through the park.
