The Waipoua Forest is a place of quiet, majestic beauty. The lush woodland houses the largest collection of kauri trees in New Zealand. You can also find ample stocks of rimu and northern rata trees. There are several walking trails through the 2500 hectares of forest. There is also wheelchair accessibility to see Tane Mahuta, the Lord of the Forest, which is a 51-metre-high kauri said to be the world's largest tree. Hiking is one of New Zealand's favourite pastimes and a great way to stay fit while on holiday.
