My friend and I (mid 30s) have just returned from a 5 day, 6 night stay at the Bab Al Qasr Hotel and we can not recommend it highly enough. The room was really nicely decorated, had amazing views across the city & beach, great choice of TV channels, huge bathroom which was well stocked and super soft dressing gowns and towels. We had twin beds, which were more like small doubles! They were super comfy and so were the pillows, I suffer from back and neck issues and this was the first time I've stayed at a hotel and not come away aching. The room itself was kept spotlessly clean and well stocked for water. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated and kept spotless. The gym has excellent equipment and lots of machines so you don't have to wait for one to become free. The cool towels was a nice touch too. My friend had her nails done in the saloon which was reasonably priced and the ladies were lovely. We didn't use the spa. The food was superburb, we honestly didn't have one bad meal and my friend is a manager of a restaurant so is particularly hard to please. I'm vegetarian and my friend is gluten and diary-free but we had so many choices at every meal and they were so kind with extra requests we had. The pastry chefs even went out of their way to make her a vegan desert! We have to give a special shout out for he black quinoa salad which was to die for. The beach isn't very big but it was well stocked with beds and umbrellas and you were always supplied with plenty of towels. Unfortunately the beach bar wasn't open due to maintenance but the bar staff from the poolside bar were great and always took orders and delivered them to your beach bed. Poolside was again well stocked with beds and the water was nice temperature. There is a piano bar for the evening and the pool bar is also open but no other evening entertainment. Easy enough to head to one of the hotel clubs if that's your thing. As for the staff, we can not give them enough praise. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed with smiling faces and a 'we can't do enough for you' attitude. Unlike many hotels it felt sincere and not forced and that just made us feel really relaxed. A special shout out has to go to Comy the night porter for always welcoming us with a huge smile, Derrek for always making sure we had everything we wanted and his positive attitude, Ranjeep and Joel who ran the restaurants and made us feel special everyday. Sanjeep the young poolside waiter who was always very sweet, Clement the receptionist who was kind enough to make sure we got some quinoa salad to take away! The one thing that we would have liked to have seen is recycling at work and an alternative to the amount of plastic bottles and plastic straws. It would be nice to the hotel be a leader helping to tackle the climate problem by doing their part, I'm sure this could be an additional selling point and would be appreciated by guests. So if you're thinking of staying at the hotel don't hesitate.
