The McDowell Sonoran Preserve was established to protect over 30,000 acres of Sonoran desert in Scottsdale. The preserve is funded thanks to donations from local Scottsdale residents and other people dedicated to the preservation of nature and keeping animals and their homes safe!

The preservation exists to protect the Sonoran Desert through research, learning, and teaching. Volunteers work in many different roles- from maintaining hike trails, to leading mountain biking trails, traditional hikes, horseback riding, and educational tours.
