See Images of the Afterlife at Chicago Field Museum
From 22 March 2013 To 07 July 2013Address
Chicago Field Museum, 1400 South Lake Shore Drive Chicago, IL 60605
Everyone is taught about Egyptian mummies at school, but it is easy to see them simply as relics or pictures in books.
However, guests at Chicago hotels will have the chance to view mummies like never before thanks to a special event at the city's Field Museum.
On June 8th and 9th, Images of the Afterlife will bring the public face-to-face with two preserved Egyptians formerly known only as #30007 and #11517.
Recent CT scans and 3D imaging have allowed museum scientists to create pictures of what these people would once have looked like and these will be shown off to ticketholders.
One mummy was a woman in her forties - the team even found that she had curly hair - and the other was a teenage boy, so it will be amazing to see them virtually brought back to life.
Residents of the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel Chicago will be able to get to the Field Museum very easily in a taxi to view the exhibition, as it is just over ten minutes away by road.
