Those fascinated by Greek history and heritage will be able to explore it far from the Acropolis and Olympia by paying a visit to Buffalo.
Beauty, Life, and Spirit: A Celebration of Greek Culture is being staged by the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in conjunction with the Buffalo Museum of Science, offering a chance to get a close look at artefacts from ancient Greece including oil lamps and coins, sculpted figures of animals and humans, perfume containers and religious artefacts.
Other items in the collection include Orthodox Church icons from the Hellenic period, plus paintings and sculpture from the 20th century.
The exhibition opens on 20th July 2012 and continues until 21st April 2013.
Getting there from the Millennium Hotel Buffalo involves an 11 minute drive across the city, exiting via Walden Avenue and Walden Galleria onto the I-90 E as far as exit 51W.
From here, take the NY-33 W towards central Buffalo and then the exit onto the NY-198W.
Exiting at the Buffalo State College, merge onto Elmwood Avenue and take the right turning onto Iroquois Drive.
