Many photographic exhibitions trying to present a snapshot of a particular place focus on the landscape.
However, guests at Anchorage hotels will be able to see one that sets its sights firmly on the people if they go to the city's museum over the coming months.
Portrait Alaska: Clark James Mishler is showing from April 20th until September 28th and the eponymous artist will present more than 200 portraits of Alaskans taken during the past 20 years.
He has aimed to demonstrate their independence and character, but also the connections between citizens who live miles apart in the US's biggest state.
Among the photos are women hanging salmon out to dry, teenagers skateboarding and children holding chickens.
"I'd love [local visitors] to say 'Ha! He got it. He totally got it. This is who we are'," Mr Mishler commented.
Residents of the Millennium Alaskan Hotel Anchorage can get to the museum very easily, as it is situated just over ten minutes away by car.
The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race begins in Anchorage on March 2nd.
