Catch 'Satchmo at The Waldorf' in New York
From 01 April 2014 To 03 August 2014Address
Westside Theatre Upstairs, 407 West 43rd Street, New York NY 10036
Until August 3rd, Satchmo at The Waldorf will be playing at the Westside Theatre Upstairs in New York City.
Set in the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in 1971, the miraculous Louis Armstrong relives the story of how he came to be one of the most, if not the most famous jazz musician of all time.
Satchmo (Louis Armstrong) has just played one of the last performances of his illustrious career and backstage is where we hear the story of his love-affair with jazz and the long road he took with his manager Joe Glaser in an era of social controversies.
Previously sold-out at the Long Wharf Theatre and the Shakespeare Company, this exciting and beautifully crafted musical features John Douglas Thompson of The Emperor Jones fame.
The performance is directed by Gordon Edelstein of The Road to Mecca and the script is written by Terry Teachout of Pops: A Life of Louis Armstrong.
Why not chill out in the Millennium Broadway Hotel New York after the show and relive the story of Armstrong’s struggles and successes?
Fuerza Bruta, the Argentine-founded multi-sensory show, will be bringing their next installment, Wayra to New York from May 27th to September 7th.
