Dr John is a singer-songwriter, pianist and guitarist who is also a seriously classy live performer, having been active since the 1950s.
It is not an understatement to say that he is a musical legend - and his distinctive style combines elements of blues, pop and jazz, as well as zydeco, boogie woogie and rock 'n' roll.
His theatrical stage presence takes inspiration from the likes of medicine shows, Mardi Gras costumes and voodoo ceremonies.
On February 9th, he will be performing at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles - and entry prices start at $40 plus booking fees for the cheap seats.
