Universal Studios Hollywood
Universal Studios Hollywood is a must-see for many of those who travel to Los Angeles each year, such is its enduring reputation as one of the city's most exciting attractions.
It opened as a movie studio back in March 1915 and filming of some of the biggest silver screen blockbusters still takes place there each year. However, it is perhaps best known as a theme park, with rides opening in July 1964 and the park having grown significantly since then.
Universal Studios Hollywood is split across two levels (the Upper lot and Lower lot) that are connected by escalators called the Starway. Each one features an array of rides and shows, some of which are permanent and some that only open for a short period to correspond with certain films.
A particular highlight is the Studio Tour, which takes visitors around the back-lot via trams and shows them behind the scenes of their favorite movies and TV series.
General admission to the park costs $84 for adults and it is advisable to pre-book tickets to reduce queuing time.
