Find out more about bears in Durham
From 12 May 2013 To 18 May 2013Address
Museum of Life + Science, 433 Murray Avenue, Durham, NC 27704
There are three different species of bear residing in various parts of the US - the black bear, the grizzly bear and the polar bear.
Anyone staying at Durham hotels this May who is keen to find out more about them is in luck, as the city's Museum of Life + Science is running a dedicated program of events focusing on the animals.
Bear Awareness Week will run daily from May 12th to 18th and offers visitors the chance to meet keepers at the institution's Bear Overlook to talk about the different species.
For instance, did you know that bears are related to seals, weasels and wolves?
There will also be plenty of other activities so that people can learn why bears are so important to ecosystems - and free bear gifts will even be on offer afterwards.
Residents of the Millennium Hotel Durham who are eager to go along to Bear Awareness Week could be best taking a taxi to the museum and back, as this will only take around seven minutes.
