Chicago's Shakespeare in the Parks returns with 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'
From 18 July 2014 To 10 August 2014Address
The Chicago Shakespeare Theater will bring 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' to people across the city for its third edition of the Shakespeare in the Parks season!
The family-friendly production will show performances across 18 parks from July 18th-19th, 2014 at Gateway Park up to August 10th at Columbus Park.
Chicago Shakespeare in the Parks is inspired by the open air setting in which Shakespeare’s plays were originally performed more than 400 years ago, and Joseph Papp’s twentieth century American initiative that brought free Shakespeare to urban communities.
A specially equipped truck will roll into parks around the city, a stage will unfold, and a company of professional actors will share the delight of Shakespeare with people of all ages.
In 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', a popular Shakespearean comedy, a quartet of mismatched lovers, a gaggle of hapless actors and mischievous sprites cross paths with the king and queen of the fairies, entangled in their own domestic dispute.
Audiences will be transported to an extraordinary wood where the inexplicable magic of falling in love is discovered.
