The lives of the Native American tribes prior to the arrival of Europeans in the US have always enthralled history buffs, particularly when it comes to war and spiritualism.

Guests at Manchester hotels this year can take a closer look at the epoch thanks to a new exhibition that has opened in one of the city's most popular museums.

From now until 3rd November, Manchester Museum is hosting Warriors of the Plains: 200 Years of Native North American Honour and Ritual, which is free to enter.

It features exhibits including ceremonial shirts, moccasins, tomahawks, pipes, rattles and headdresses to bring to life the world of the Great Plains from 1800 onwards.

Visitors will be able to see how warfare and ritual influenced the people of the tribes and how their legacy lives on in the tribal identity of Plains Indians today.

Guests at the Copthorne Hotel Manchester can easily get to the museum for the exhibition, as it is just nine minutes away in a car or taxi.
