CU Art Museum, 1085 18th Street, Boulder, CO 80309

There are always lots of interesting exhibitions going on at the University of Colorado Art Museum, many of which are temporary.

Guests at Boulder hotels do not have long left if they want to check out one particularly interesting example - David Maisel/Black Maps: American Landscape and the Apocalyptic Sublime.

This has been showing since February 9th but is due to close on May 11th and it is well worth taking a look at.

It is composed of large photographs that show how the American west has been transformed by things like industrial-scale water diversion projects, open-pit mineral extraction and urban sprawl.

This contrasts sharply with the way the landscape is often portrayed in films and books and demonstrates how the artist has taken a fresh approach to interpreting issues of contemporary landscape and culture.

Guests at the Millennium Harvest House Boulder will find they can easily walk to the museum, as it is less than 20 minutes away on foot.
