Address Boston Society of Architects, 290 Congress Street, Boston

It is a good idea to research the internet for things to do on your holidays, but nothing beats being shown around a new city by someone who knows it as a native.

Anyone staying in Boston hotels this spring can benefit from just this if they take a walking tour with Boston on Foot.

A non-profit organization, it offers guided trips around some of the most interesting architectural and historical attractions the city has to offer.

They take place from spring until October and walkers are guided by volunteers trained to provide even the most hidden details about Boston.

However, there is also an annual spring programme. This year, it starts on April 13th with a tour of how colonial Boston was planned out, then continues on April 20th with a guide to the development of some of federal Boston's biggest landmarks.

The schedule concludes on May 11th with a fascinating tour of subterranean Boston.

All tours start from the Boston Society of Architects, which is within easy walking distance of the Millennium Bostonian Hotel Boston.
