There are three different species of bear residing in various parts of the US - the black bear, the grizzly bear and the polar bear.
Anyone staying at Anchorage hotels this May who is keen to find out more about grizzlies in particular is in luck, as the city's zoo is running an event dedicated to them.
The Bear Aware Event on Mother's Day takes place on May 12th at 12:00 AKDT and runs until 16:00 AKDT.
Visitors will be able to watch real bears emptying bins, refresh their safety tips should they ever come across one and take part in crafts and a variety of other activities.
Moms can enter for free and it is sure to be a great day out for all the family.
It is easy to get to the zoo from the Millennium Alaskan Hotel Anchorage in a car, as the two are only around 13 minutes apart.
