Anchorage to host 78th Fur Rondy
From 22 February 2013 To 03 March 2013Address
Anyone looking to experience a bit of the unique Alaskan culture this winter need look no further than the Anchorage Fur Rendezvous.
People staying in Anchorage hotels will be in the ideal position to attend the celebration which takes place between February 22nd and March 8th this year.
Locally it is known as the Fur Rondy and has been a part of Alaskan heritage since 1935. However, back then it only lasted three days to coincide with the return of minders and trappers.
This year, highlights include Outhouse Races, Running of the Reindeer - a mad dash down the streets of Anchorage with caribou at the racers' heels - and the traditional Rondy World Championship Sled Dog Races.
People could even get involved with the Yukigassen - a mass team snowball fight.
As the Millennium Alaskan Hotel Anchorage is centrally located, it will be a great place to stay throughout the Fur Rondy.
