A shallow bay comprising 42 islands surrounded by shallow sea waters, Phang Nga Bay has much valued intertidal forested wetlands containing coral reefs, sea grass and approximately 28 species of mangroves. The coexistence of several diverse cultures in local communities practicing harvesting and
fishing has long been drawing tourists’ attention who are fascinated both by the archaeological
sites and the natural beauty of the vicinity.
The spectacular village of Koh Panyee created on stilts over water, is also a sight to behold.
It is an ideally tranquil setting to relish a meal or indulge in the shopping of handicrafts and
souvenirs.
