Located in the Andaman Sea between mainland of southern Thailand’s Malay Peninsula and the island of Phuket, Phang Nga Bay is popular due to several unique features it flaunts.  A shallow bay comprising 42 islands surrounded by shallow sea waters, Phang Nga Bay has much valued intertidal forested wetlands containing coral reefs, sea grass and approximately 28 species of mangroves.

The coexistence of several diverse cultures in local communities practicing harvesting and fishing has long been drawing tourists’ attention who are fascinated both by the archaeological sites and the natural beauty of the vicinity.
The sheer limestone cliffs emerging from the emerald green water are a distinctive feature of the bay whilst its most famous island and attraction is the James Bond Island. The James Bond movie 'The Man with the Golden Gun’ brought the island limelight and a place on the intentional map. With its signature rocky pinnacle, James Bond Island is the primary feature of every tour in Phang Nga Bay.

The spectacular village of Koh Panyee created on stilts over water, is also a sight to behold. It is an ideally tranquil setting to relish a meal or indulge in the shopping of handicrafts and souvenirs.
Koh Maak, one of the few secluded islands of Phang Nga Bay is home to a small community maintaining a traditional way of life with the livelihood of fishing.  Sitting at the top of the bay, the island is not included in any itinerary.
The picturesque backdrop of the intriguing limestone cliffs and the abundance of safe anchoring places have made the Phang Nga Bay the ideal location for boating in Phuket.
