The most popular and largest island in Thailand, Phuket is cosmopolitan as it is colourful and
is among the most famed dream destinations in the world. Boasting an abundance of verdant inland
vistas in several secluded swathes of rainforest and along its western shoreline where the Andaman
Sea’s turquoise waters meets hunter-green foliage, there is a set of stunning waterfalls in Phuket.
The largest waterfall in Phuket, Bang Pae Waterfall is located in the Khao Phra Thaew
National Park close to the northern side of Phuket, near the Two Heroines Monument. The falls can
be reached by taking a hike up the forest trail and a pool is sited at its base. Many visitors tend
to dip into the pool on hot days.
The Gibbon Rehabilitation Centre founded in 1992 by an American Zoologist is located in
proximity to the Bang Pae Waterfall. The centre houses a souvenir stall from which one can purchase
various items. Donations are gratefully accepted for the benefit of its gibbons.
The waterfalls in the region are at their best during the period from June to November whilst
September and October present the ideal time for visiting. Besides the alluring Bang Pae Waterfall,
several other waterfalls are located in Phuket such as TonSai Waterfall and Kathu Waterfalls.
The visitor to the Bang Pae Waterfall can also gain a delightful experience roaming along the
sandy coastline of Phuket where tons of water sports and chic restaurants are available. Although
highly developed, the region undoubtedly has its share of Thai appeal. From night markets of
old Phuket Town to the pristine beaches in Nai Han, Phuket possesses something to please every
visitor.
