The annual Bangkok Marathon returns to Thailand next month, organisers have confirmed.

Beginning and ending next to the Grand Palace, the Bangkok Marathon will take place on Thursday November 23rd.

The marathon is known as one of the toughest races in the world because of Thailand's heat and humidity and is divided into three parts - the 42.195-kilometre (26-mile) marathon, the 21.10-kilometre half marathon and the 10.55-kilometre quarter marathons.

There is also a five-kilometre (3.2-mile) marathon course designed for slowers runners and those who prefer to walk.

Many of the city's well-known landmarks and attractions will be passed by the marathon's competitors including the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, the National Museum and the Chao Phraya River.

There are also plenty of beautiful spots where spectators can enjoy the action such as on Sanam Chai Road, which is situated next to the celebrated Grand Palace.

A range of festivities will also be on offer after the marathon finishes including the famous pasta party.
