Situated on the outskirts of Doha City, The Doha Zoo is about a 30 minute drive from the city center.

This impressive 42 acres site presents a vast natural environment that allows you to view these beautiful creatures as if they were living in their natural habitat. Even the landscape of the park itself presents an attraction that is well worth a visiting the zoo for. When travelers are moving between the different animal attractions, they can gaze upon a variety of fauna and other plant life further adding to this experience.

The Zoo in total features over 1500 animals that include more than 150 different species. Animals that visitors can see include giraffes, zebras, elephants, gazelles, deer, and even baboons. Also housed here are some rare species including the Oryx which is the national animal of Qatar and is currently an endangered specie. In addition the zoo also has a fairly large collection of birds as well.

Beyond the various animals that are on offer here, there is also a mini amusement park that is perfect for both adults and kids alike and also presents an ideal spot for having a picnic.

For visitors who do not wish to walk the entire length of the zoo, there is a special train that takes visitors through all the main areas ensuring you view all the beautiful animals that are housed here without the hassle of walking.

The Doha Zoo is open from 8:00 am till 12:00 pm and open again from 2:30 pm till 7:30 pm. Visitors should note however that the zoo is closed on Fridays. On Tuesday afternoons the park is reserved for only women and children while Wednesday afternoons is reserved exclusively for families.
