There are things you could surely count on at the onset of the Chinese New Year: the ubiquitous lion and dragon dance, ang pao – red packets and a spectacular Chinese New Year fete at The Heritage Hotel Manila. In the auspicious Year of the Earth Ox, more than 300 revelers from the diplomatic corps, corporate circle and media flocked to the Artists’ Ballroom for the toe-curling goodness of the Singaporean-inspired Yu Sheng Prosperity Toss, jaw-dropping production numbers and a captivating Chinese-inspired fashion show especially designed by the young and trendy designers of La Salle College International under the tutelage of renowned fashion designers Mr. Danilo Franco and Mr. Gerry Katigbak. To herald the Year of the Earth Ox with joie de vivre, Mr. Eddie Yeo, the Heritage Hotel’s General Manager together with his spouse, Mrs. Mary Yeo, H.E. Ambassador Aloy Ratnayake, Embassy of Sri Lanka; Mr. Sadek Osman, Charge de Affaires, Embassy of Libya; Mr. Hadi Osman, Embassy of Libya; H. E. Ambassador Selverajah, Embassy of Singapore; Mrs. Mary Selverajah, spouse of Singaporean Ambassador; Mrs. Rosilawati Rasidi, spouse of Malaysian Ambassador; H.E. Ambassador Dato' Ahmad Rasidi Hazizi, Malaysian Embassy led the ceremonial toss of the only authentic Yu Sheng Prosperity Salad on the shores of the Philippines. Participants from the power corridors of Manila gamely shouted “Lo Hei!” in jest for wishes of abundance, good health and success in 2009.

Ms. Romina Gervacio, Heritage Hotel’s Marketing Communications Manager hosted the colorful and glamorous occasion amidst the splash of Chinese scarlet ambiance, golden emblems reeking with symbolisms of good fortune and guests in their glittery Cheong Sams which were simply delightful in the good spirits of the Chinese New Year celebration. To further add sparkle to the affair, the Singapore Tourism Board, HUGO BOSS Red, L’Oreal and Haagen Dazs supported the Heritage Hotel’s Chinese New Year event. As guests relished the good vibes of the authentic Chinese dinner, Ms. Faith Cuneta rendered a special number followed by song numbers from the Heritage Twins and Ms. Chiara King, Sales Manager, Belly Dancing by Heritage Hotel’s Joyce Paguia, the 1st prize winner of the Hotel’s and Restaurant Management Association of the Philippines Dance Contest and a crowd-pleaser dance medley performance from the Heritage Hotel’s usually mild-mannered Accounting and Housekeeping Staff turned in to dancing kings and queens. As a finale, Ms. Gigi Gaw, Director of Sales and Marketing put on her killer boots and strutted her stuff in a tailor-made Chinese/Western fusion creation to lead the sales and marketing team to a unique collection of Chinese designer clothes courtesy of La Salle College International. As a tradition, in the spirit of achieving balance and harmony in the Year of the Earth Ox, The Heritage Hotel Manila, the Heritage Hotel once again launched a unique Wishing Earth Ox fund-raising drive to benefit the Shepherd of the Hills Foundation, a non-government organization dedicated to help improve the lives of the abandoned and street children.
