Address Highline Ballroom, 431 W 16th St, New York, NY 10011, United States

When visiting a teeming hotbed of culture like New York, it might be a good idea for holidaymakers to engage with something really outre.

On March 24th, Andrea Gibson will be performing a show at the Highline Ballroom - and this should fit the bill perfectly.

She is a poet whose fearless and raw honesty has catapulted her to the very forefront of the spoken word movement.

Gibson was the first winner of the Women’s World Poetry Slam - and her work takes in the topics of war, class, gender, bullying, white privilege, sexuality, love and spirituality.

Entry for the show costs $15 at the door on the day of the show, while those who book in advance will be able to pay just $13.

Visitors to the city who are staying at the Millennium UN Plaza Hotel will be able to get to the venue in around 15 minutes if they drive or jump in a taxi.
