Hawker Haven
Location & Attractions|Hawker HavenFood is not expensive in these hawker stalls, when compared to the food at the restaurants and bars. Some of the dishes that the stalls serve are a bit spicy whereas the others are average, so that the foreigners can also taste the difference in Malay food. The experience that a visitor would get at a hawker centre is so much different to the fine dinning experience at a comfortable restaurant since it makes it possible to access a number of dishes like Malay, Indonesian, Thai and Chinese under one roof. Though the hawkers serve a variety of dishes, some of the favorites among the customers are the Char koay teow, Tom yam maggi mee, satay, popiah, bbq chicken wings and fried oysters. At the same time, it's important to remember that some of the stalls have rules in ordering the food, as to the minimum number of pieces that needs to be ordered from one type of food. The well-known streets that can be listed as Hawker Havens are the Gurney Drive, Tapak Selera, Island Glades, New Lane Roadside and Swatow Lane. Out of these stalls, the Gurney Drive stalls which are close by to the Sunrise Tower serves halal and non - halal food. While enjoying the hawker food along the streets of Penang, a guest at the Copthorne Orchid Hotel Penang would be overjoyed with variety of delicious dishes readily available to them, including those served at the in-house restaurant - Hu Ji Chinese Restaurant. |
