Visitors to a city like St Louis, Missouri would be well advised to use their time trying to get a taste for the culture and history of the region.

On February 2nd, the city's Old Rock House will be playing host to a special event entitled Bam! that should fit the bill perfectly.

It will see local bands The Hatrick and The Hillbenders performing bluegrass that is inspired by the historical musical traditions of the state.

This will not be a mere lesson in the form however, as they bring their own unique twist to the genre, dubbing it stompgrass.

In practice, this means that every member of The Hatrick will be playing percussion with their feet, as well as guitars.

Entry costs $8 when booked in advance - and residents at the Millennium Hotel St Louis will be able to get to the venue in less than five minutes if they jump in a taxi.
