St. Louis Zoo is a popular attraction, not only with families, but also with anyone with an interest in animal preservation. The zoo is a renowned institute of animal management, conservation, education and research.  

Formed in 1904, St. Louis Zoo was originally established by the Smithsonian Institute as an avian exhibition. Although intended as a temporary attraction, the city decided to buy the exhibit rather than return it to the Smithsonian. From there, the zoo was rapidly formed.

Visitors to St. Louis Zoo can expect to see all kinds of species set out across 77 acres of lush vegetation and spacious animal enclosures. Rare animals from South America, the African Savannah, the Nile Delta, Asia and North America can all be witnessed at close quarters.

The zoo features a dedicated children's section, where kids can see Mole rats and pet bunnies. Amphibians, meerkats, Fennec foxes, tree kangaroos and otters can also be seen within this interactive children's area.

Elsewhere, there's the Bird House, Primate House and Herpetarium to take in. Daily shows are also held in the Sea Lion Arena over the summer months. Hotels near St Louis Zoo include the Millennium Hotel St. Louis, which lies just a short distance away.
