Mountain feature

The Wadi Bani Khalid is a natural attraction well worth visiting, some 28 miles (45km) from Mussanah. 'Wadi' is the term used to signify a dry riverbed from which water has vanished; they are often found in mountain valleys. After seasonal rains, water returns to the wadis and vegetation flourishes. There are also wadis where water is found year-round, and the Wadi Bani Khalid is one of these.

Caves, springs and more

Covering a varied tract of mountains and lowland, Wadi Bani Khalid is also renowned for its picturesque springs of water and fascinating underground caves. Sightseeing around the wadi done by following a modern road network. It is easy to see the irrigation system called Aflaj, a method that arguably may date back as far as 2,500 BC.
