A perfect time to feel this calmness away from your hotel in Phuket is during the Loi Krathong festival which takes place each November.
Occurring on 28th November 2011, the event takes place on the night of a full moon and is considered to be one of the most magical of all the Thai festivals.
The event is a stunning spectacle to behold, with small lotus-shaped boats created from banana leaves, which are known as krathongs.
These little boats are filled with small flowers, candles and incense and floated down the river as an offering to nature to thank her for the water that she gives.
Anyone who has any worries or concerns will also add a strand of their hair or a nail clipping to their boat, as it is believed their anxieties will drift away from them on-board their boat.
People in the Millennium Resort Patong are in luck if they want to see this spectacle for themselves, as the beach at Patong is one of the most popular places for people to gather, along with Saphan Hill on the outskirts of the main city.
