Locations & Attractions|Central ParkThe Park is home to numerous attractions and is the site of many concerts. In the summer season many events are held in the different venues around the park. The Great Lawn is a vast area of greenery that houses eight baseball fields and is famous for being a place to relax, read a book or have a picnic among friends and family. In the summer, the New York Philharmonic and Metropolitan Opera perform in live concerts. Central Park has played host to numerous celebrities such as Elton John, Diana Ross, and Dave Mathews Band to name a few. David Ippolito is another famous individual who has been singing in the park since 1992 and is more commonly known as the ‘Guitar man in Central Park.’ Ippolito can be seen singing on summer weekends to crowds of both residents and visitors to Manhattan. Central Park also has excellent opportunities for cycling, jogging, and inline skaters due to its various tracks. The park features an ice skating rink as well as horse drawn carriages, a tradition that has been kept alive over the years. Numerous boulders are scattered throughout Central Park and many climbers try their hand at climbing some of the bigger boulders. The two most famous spots are known as Cat Rock and Rat Rock which are ideal for the climbing enthusiast. The Wildlife Center and Central Park Zoo features monkeys, penguins, sea lions and more. This attraction is ideal when traveling with the family. The zoo is open from March 22nd to November 2nd from 10 am to 5 pm on weekdays, and 10AM to 5:30 PM on weekends. Between November and March 21st the Zoo is open daily from 10 AM till 4:30 PM. Central Park is a great place to unwind after a long day of meetings.
