Bluebird Café is famous for its intimate and acoustic performances which involve artists performing with a minimal of supporting instruments. Generally performers at the club are only assisted with a solo guitar or a piano. There is no doubt that acoustics is where the emphasis is placed on at the club. Another rule that is generally upheld in the café is that artists do not play cover songs and must have their own original content.

Bluebird Café has gained a reputation for providing the best original country music and acoustic music seven days a week. New writers must first pass an audition process before they are allowed to play on the Sunday night show. The entrance for this special performance on Sunday nights is free and as an additional benefit there is usually a special hit songwriter performing as the finale.
